West advocated for an effort “the Clackamas way,” calling attempts to confront homelessness in other parts of the West Coast “an objective failure.” West pushed against priorities in western cities, such as the decriminalization of drugs and harm reduction.
“I believe this county wants to focus on recovery-oriented systems of care that have worked in other parts of North America,” West said.

Ben has been working hard at proving mental health services in Clackamas County which is one of the primary means of ending the homelessness crisis. I plan on voting to reelect Ben so he can continue this work which will hopefully encourage other counties to follow suite. Additionally, Ben’s focus on Public Safety is much appreciated. ClackCo has benefited greatly from his leadership.
